Getting started

[admin] [portal]

The first 30 minutes on licensio.io: from the invitation to the first delivered license package.

Who does what​

  • Admin (= provider): you are the manufacturer, upload 3D print files and define packages.
  • Customer (= licensee): end customer who buys your package and downloads print files through the portal.
  • licensio: platform operator. No base fee and no setup fee — licensio earns a flat 10% of your license revenue (Beta rate), collected automatically via Stripe Connect; otherwise no intervention.

Setup as an admin​

1. Create account​

Two paths:

  • Self-service: https://admin.licensio.io/register → shop name + email + password → one free access, no tariff tiers to pick. Step by step: Provider registration.
  • Invited: if you received an invitation by mail, you follow the link to admin.licensio.io/login and sign in with an OTP code.

After login the onboarding wizard (5 steps) starts automatically: branding, Stripe Connect, first product, portal URL.

2. Customize branding​

Go to Settings → Branding and set:

  • 9 colors (primary, background, header, sidebar, texts, buttons, heading, body)
  • Logo + favicon
  • Font (Google Fonts live)
  • Login texts

3. Activate Stripe Connect​

Go to Settings → Stripe and follow the onboarding to your Stripe connected account. Without an active Stripe account no payments are processed.

Important: in the Stripe dashboard also activate Tax → Automatic Tax and add tax registration for Germany.

4. Create license packages​

Settings → Packages → one package per tier you offer your own customers (e.g. "Standard" / "Premium"). Configurable:

  • Monthly fee / one-time fee / setup fee
  • Minimum term + cancellation notice period
  • Self-service flag (customers can register themselves)
  • Category, compatibility and product restrictions

5. Upload products​

Products → + Product with 4 tabs:

  • General (name, description, category, compatibility, images)
  • Variants & files (SKU, EAN, several print files per variant)
  • Print settings (material, nozzle temp etc.)
  • Accessories (linked products)

6. Invite the first customer​

Customers → + Invite customer with package selection. The customer gets a mail with a registration link.

7. Embed widget (optional)​

If you have an online shop, you can embed the licensio license portal button directly in the header. More details: Widget.

Setup as a customer​

1. Open the registration link​

You get a mail with a link to registration. Set a password and complete your profile (including your industry / NACE, which is required).

2. Pay the invoice & get activated​

The provider activates your account, which raises a Stripe invoice with a 14-day payment window (sent by email with a hosted-invoice link). Your account becomes active (status pending → active) once the invoice is paid. You get a confirmation mail.

3. Sign in to the portal​

<tenant>.licensio.io/login. OTP by mail (skippable in dev mode).

4. Download your first product​

Products → select a product → variant → Download.

5. Optional: set up a printer​

Account → Printers → + Add printer. Install the licensio agent on a Raspberry Pi or Linux machine. More details: Printers.

Frequent questions​

How long does activation take? Usually a few hours. If urgent: get in touch with the provider admin.

What happens when I cancel? Your access stays active until the end of the paid period. After that the account is set to inactive.

Can I run the admin on my own domain? The admin stays on admin.licensio.io. A custom domain for your provider portal is in preparation (coming with full white-label).
