Set up printers

Register your 3D printers in the portal. Today this is a printer registry (metadata only). The licensio agent — live status and direct printing — is in preparation.

What works today / what is in preparation
Today (live)
- Register a printer (manufacturer, model, serial number, AMS, SwapMod, local IP, notes)
- Printer list with a central overview
- Edit and delete printer entries
In preparation (licensio agent)
The agent (agent.licensio.io) does not exist yet. Everything below is hidden in production and ships with the agent:
- Install the licensio agent on a Linux system and pair it with a token
- Live status: Offline / Online / Printing / Paused / Error
- "Send to printer": print file directly from the portal
- "Cancel print", "Eject plate" (for SwapMod printers), "Reconnect"
- Live filament configuration via Bambu RFID
Step by step: create a printer
1. Overview
Sidebar → Printers (or Account → Printers tab).
2. + Add printer
- Name (freely chosen, e.g. "Workshop printer 1")
- Manufacturer: Bambu Lab / Prusa / Elegoo / Creality / Other
- Model (free text, e.g. "X1 Carbon", "MK4")
- Serial number (optional)
- AMS present? (for multi-material) + number of units
- SwapMod present? (auto plate change module) + type
- Local IP (optional, for the future direct-print function)
- Notes
3. Save
The printer appears with status not_installed. Because the agent is not live yet, the printer stays in this state for now — there is no agent to connect.
Printer detail page
On the detail page you currently see:
- Info: status badge, name, manufacturer/model, serial number, last seen
- Configuration: AMS, SwapMod, local IP, notes
- Delete printer (at the bottom)
The agent sections (token, setup wizard, live status, actions) only appear once the agent ships.
Status indicators (planned)
Until the agent is live, a printer shows "Agent not installed". The following states apply once the agent reports them:

Frequent questions
Which printers will be supported? The focus is on Bambu Lab (X1 Carbon, P1S, A1) because of RFID filament detection. Prusa, Elegoo, Creality are planned in parallel, with a generic mode for all others using GCODE upload.
Will I need a Raspberry Pi? It is the recommended host for the agent (cheap and energy-efficient), but any Linux machine with Python 3.10+ and USB/network access to the printer should be enough. The agent is not available yet.
Data privacy: what will licensio see? The plan: only printer model, status and print history. No sensor telemetry, no camera streams; data stays primarily local to the agent, only status + job IDs go to licensio.
